Certified Peer Recovery Specialist · In sustained recovery since January 1, 2024
“My clean date is January 1, 2024. I didn’t build this because recovery was easy. I built it because people deserve better tools while they do the hard work.”
I had spent years in addiction and did not know how to live outside that lifestyle.
On January 1, 2024, I chose recovery and began taking life one day at a time.
I turn lived experience into books, stories, and apparel that help other people feel less alone.
I am not here to replace meetings, sponsors, fellowship, treatment, or a higher power. The Recovering Addict is a companion brand: practical tools beside the programs that have been saving lives for generations.
Our mission as we grow: hire people in recovery. Today, Rome buys recovery literature and food for struggling addicts out of his own pocket, every month.
The meeting record books and the first two hoodies of the collection — ready to order today.
Available on AmazonFor the secretary keeping a meeting's records clear—and ready for the next trusted servant. Meeting records, business minutes, clean-time celebrations, trusted-servant information, inventories, and handoff pages in one book.
Available on AmazonFor the treasurer who needs a clear record of the group's money. Twelve months of weekly records, monthly breakdowns, reserve tracking, receipts, and reporting pages.
Modeled lookHow free do you want to be? A question to carry into your own recovery—not a measure of anyone else's. The sunrise and river leave room for another beginning.

The one it started with. The skyline means belonging, the sunrise means a new day, and LOST ◆ FOUND ◆ FREE names the road honestly. For the steady ones — the people others lean on.
The work between meetings deserves practical tools.
Inspiration matters. But the next day still needs structure. Our job is to turn hard-earned recovery experience into tools people can understand, use, and return to when life gets loud.
Start with the person, not the product. Newcomers need safety and clarity. Trusted servants need dependable systems. Nobody needs more shame.
Break difficult work into plain steps: one record, one reading, one question, one honest next move. Clear enough to use without a manual.
These tools do not replace meetings, sponsors, fellowship, treatment, or spiritual practice. They help people stay connected to the work already saving lives.
If a page is confusing, performative, or too shallow to help, it is not finished. We make recovery resources with the care we would want for someone we love.
Start with meeting record books, or find the recovery message you want to wear.

Hoodies
Modeled lookHow free do you want to be? A question to carry into your own recovery—not a measure of anyone else's. The sunrise and river leave room for another beginning.

The one it started with. The skyline means belonging, the sunrise means a new day, and LOST ◆ FOUND ◆ FREE names the road honestly. For the steady ones — the people others lean on.
Modeled lookFor the newcomer walking into a first meeting, scared and hopeful at the same time. Sky blue carries that morning-after feeling: the air is clear, and today is still possible.

Adobe is earth and warmth — for the ones doing the quiet work at home. Making the coffee, holding the family together, showing up one ordinary day after another.

For the ones who found their footing outdoors — morning walks, deep breaths, solid ground again. Forest green is for recovery that grew back slow and strong, like something rooted.

Royal blue is for the trusted servants — the ones who unlock the doors, chair the meeting, and carry the keys. Steady, dependable, and proud to stand where they stand.

Pink is for the women who carry this message into rooms where they were once the only one. Soft is not weak — this one says I survived, and I am not hiding it.

Team Gold is for the celebration days — clean-time anniversaries, birthdays, the milestones nobody thought were coming. Wear the gold when the day itself is the testimony.

For the hard days, not just the milestones. This royal-blue hoodie pairs the 'Pain Is Inevitable' design with a dark St. Paul riverfront—a reminder to pause and consider your next response.

The 'Pain Is Inevitable' design in red, for someone who wants the message to be seen. A dark St. Paul riverfront holds space for the difficult days without making them the whole story.

A black hoodie for carrying the 'Pain Is Inevitable' message into ordinary, difficult days. The St. Paul riverfront keeps the design honest: recovery is not all sunrise.

Product lookBlack carries the full emblem the way it was drawn — the white arch, the sunrise over the river, and LOST ◆ FOUND ◆ FREE in gold. It's the tee Rome himself wears in the photo at the top of this page.
Product lookWarm, direct, and hard to miss. For the person who wants recovery to be visible—and belonging to feel stronger than isolation.
Product lookA bright emblem tee for the person who found connection after feeling alone. The circle says you are part of something now.
Product lookBold blue, city roots, and a sunrise over the water. Made for carrying the message that a new day can begin from right where you stand.
Product lookA clean navy-and-antique-gold version of the emblem. For anyone who wants the same story of loss, belonging, and freedom in a quieter colorway.
Hats & Beanies
Modeled lookFor the person who would rather wear the message on a hat. Heather grey and white carry the full emblem: belonging, another beginning, and recovery still being lived.

A black trucker hat with the full recovery emblem. For someone who wants a daily reminder of belonging without choosing another hoodie or tee.

The recovery emblem in loden, for someone drawn to earthy colors. The message stays the same: you can belong here while your story is still unfolding.

Heather grey and black for a familiar everyday look. The sunrise patch carries something more personal: another day and a place to belong.

A black-and-white trucker hat for carrying the emblem your way. LOST ◆ FOUND ◆ FREE names a journey—not a claim that the work is over.

A charcoal-and-black option for someone who prefers darker colors. The recovery patch keeps the sunrise—and the possibility of another beginning—in view.
Modeled lookA black beanie for colder days, with the recovery emblem on the cuff. A small, visible reminder that belonging does not have to wait until you have everything figured out.

The emblem beanie in spruce, for someone who prefers an earthy color. Same skyline, same sunrise, same room for another beginning.

A red beanie for someone who wants the recovery emblem to be noticed. The Minneapolis skyline speaks to belonging; the sunrise points toward the next day.

A white beanie with the full recovery emblem. For carrying the story of loss, belonging, and freedom into the everyday—not only on an anniversary.
Plain answers, useful ideas, and the lived story behind the brand. Start here if you are supporting someone, choosing a recovery gift, or trying to understand what The Recovering Addict stands for.
The best gift respects the person—not just the date on the calendar. Choose something useful, honest, and free of pressure.
Ask first whether they would welcome a recovery-themed gift. If they want to wear the message, the 'How Free Do You Want to Be?' hoodie is available now. Our gratitude journals are still in development.
Choose a piece that marks growth without implying the work is finished. The LOST ◆ FOUND ◆ FREE emblem honors the road while the sunrise points toward the next day. Check that they are comfortable wearing recovery-branded apparel, and allow time for made-to-order production and delivery.
A treasurer’s or secretary’s record book is practical recognition: it supports the person taking responsibility and helps the whole group keep clear, dependable records.
Short answers to the questions people ask before they buy, share, or bring these tools into a recovery space.
No. The Recovering Addict is an independent companion brand, not a replacement for 12-step programs, meetings, sponsors, treatment, fellowship, or spiritual practice. The books and journals are designed to stand beside that work.
Fourthwall produces and fulfills the apparel. Product pages show the available sizes and options; checkout, shipping details, and order support are handled through the official Fourthwall store.
Those prices reflect made-to-order apparel, the garment, printing, and Fourthwall fulfillment. The current collection uses Comfort Colors tees and selected hoodies rather than mass-produced bulk merchandise.
The Minneapolis skyline means belonging. The sunrise means a new beginning. The circle means being part of something. LOST ◆ FOUND ◆ FREE names the journey, while “recovering” keeps the work in the present tense.
Meeting records, business minutes, clean-time celebrations, trusted-servant information, group inventories, and handoff pages — the whole business of the meeting, kept in one dependable book.
The Emblem T-Shirts and the Skyline Patch Trucker Hats are $29.95 each, and the Skyline Patch Beanies are $24.95 each — every one of them under $30.
Hi, I’m Rome. My clean date is January 1, 2024. I say it plainly because recovery is not an abstract idea to me. It is the day I chose to begin again.
I had spent years in addiction and did not know how to live outside that lifestyle. Recovery did not erase my past. It gave me a way to stop handing the past control of the future.
The Recovering Addict came from the gap I kept seeing between meetings: people wanted to do the work, but the work was not always organized, explained, or easy to return to. Trusted servants needed better records. Newcomers needed gentleness before hard questions. People carrying shame needed something that said they still belonged.
So I started building: practical books, honest daily journals, stories without corporate polish, and apparel that turns belonging into something visible. This brand stands beside the programs that save lives; it does not compete with them.
Rome shares the work out loud, one short video at a time. Start with the first two: “What Works for Me” and “It’s the Lifestyle.”
Follow new releases, or tell Rome where a tool could serve people better. The brand grows by listening to the people it is built for.
New book releases, new recovery tools, and new apparel — sent as each one is finished and published. No spam, and nothing free promised — just the work. Your email stays private — never sold, never shared.
